Tokyo to Takayama

Arrived Narita airport from Kota Kinabalu at about 7 am local time.

This greeted us after the immigration check.

As soon as I was out, headed for this convenience store in the airport to get my onigiri fix.

Few hours later, found ourselves in this shinkansen....

...on our way from Tokyo station to Takayama via Nagoya.

Here are some of the many breathtaking scenery that we managed to capture from the fast moving train enroute to Takayama. Takayama is a city in the mountainous Hida region of Gifu Prefecture.

Almost every house comes with a vegetable garden.

One of the many hydro-electric dams along the way up to Takayama.

Picturesque small towns by the river.

Japan is really beautiful, especially if you can get out of the bright flashing lights of the city. Someday, I may go visit, especially if ever the yen takes a bleeding nosedive...:p

VERY VERY NICE VIEW! So scenic!

a feast, everyday said...

Frank: Must go there once and with good planning it won't have to bleed so much. Ryokan can be gotten like Rm200 to Rm300 per night/person with b/f and dinner (usually quite elaborate). Transport fare is the killer but like air asia they come in different prices for the same route if book from internet.

PP: MUCH MUCH nicer in real! But u have to get out of the big cities to see these.
