We finally settled on Spice Island and were not disappointed at all.
It was a celebration right from the moment we entered this gorgeous restaurant.
A centre piece of a whole array of spices greeted us at the entrance.
The display of the spices was a sight to behold.
Our arrival was announced with the sounding of this traditional gong. Wow, that's a first.
Pebble-lined walkway leading into the dinning area.
The beautiful restaurant... so elegant and at the same time, very cozy and relaxing. The service was first rate - very efficient, friendly and made us all feel so at home. So much so that we were roaming around taking pictures.
Many traditional decor from the land below the wind. A prefect showcase of the beauty of Sabah.

Lovely table settings.
Some banana, yam and sweet potatoe chips were served in this unique container as soon as we sat down. Not much left by the time I got round to take the picture.
And also this refreshing drink of ginger water laced with a hint of cinnamon.
We were sold even before the meals were served...
Lamb Tandoori (RM28). It came in a peppery creamy but surprisingly light sauce. Very tasty.
Tok Meah Chicken (RM18.75). Crisply fried with a spicy coating.
Curry fish head (RM 33.75). At first glance I didn't think I would like this dish as it appeared too spicy hot but that look was deceiving. It was my favourite for the night. The fish was very fresh with a velvety smooth gravy and the spices were just perfectly blended. And it wasn't overly hot as Leanne was slurping every drop.
Brinjal Bulat (RM 13.50). Eggplant with onions and tomatoes cooked with spices.
Dhalca (Rm 13.57). Lentil with carrots, cauliflower, tomatoes and chilies cooked to prefection. Served with a splash of yogurt. Don who is not a great fan of spicy food loved this dish.
Honey Chili Chicken (RM 16.50). Chicken fillet grilled and top with a very unique gravy which K said he would like to know the ingredients that goes into making this sauce (I think he wants to duplicate it!).We had Nasi Beriani and Nasi Pulao (spice flavoured rice) with these dishes . Both very delicious on they own.
Sago with gula melaka (RM 13.50) topped with vanilla ice cream.
Cheese cake (RM15 )
Layered Cake kueh lapis (RM 16.50)
Cheese cake (RM15 )
Could have skipped the desserts as they were nothing spectacular. But it was just a tradition to end a beautiful evening on a sweet note :D
